Author Guidelines

Conference proceedings will be sent to the Thomson/Reuters database ISI/Proceedings - Conference Proceedings Citation Index. Pay close attention to the quality and formal correctness of your abstracts and papers.

Paper abstracts (max. 1000 characters) are part of the on-line registration process, so have them prepared in advance. The registration deadline is April 30, 2010. At the congress, all participants will receive an abstracts proceedings.

The deadline for turning in conference papers is August 31, 2010, that is, the first day of the conference. Send your papers complying with the guidelines stated below, in Microsoft Word format, to the email address cgs.ostrava2010@osu.cz. Wthin three days you will receive a confirmation of receipt email to your email address stated during registration. If you wish, you can also turn in your paper on a CD upon your arrival.

We ask all authors to respect the deadline. Papers sent after the deadline will not be included in the conference proceedings.

Prosíme o respektování konečného termínu pro zaslání konferenčního příspěvku. Příspěvky zaslané po tomto termínu nebudou zařazeny do výběru pro vydání konferenčního sborníku.

We recommend shorter papers (9.000 characters), the maximum permitted length is 18.000 characters).
The papers should have a working papers character. That is, they should refer about an on-going research project and its preliminary results which you might publish at some point in the future in a renowned scientific journal. In this sense, the conference serves as a platform for exchanging information about research projects of Czech geographers.

Paper format

Font: Times New Roman, size 12
Line spacing: 1,5
Chapter and subchapter titles should be numbered (1.2., 1.2.1.), not highlighted in bold letters or italics, use the same font as for the normal text, just leave one line blank after the title
Separate paragraphs with an empty line
Use the Harvad citation style: Novák 2009, or Novák 2009, p. 77
Final bibliography should comply with the Geography – Proceedings of the Czech Geographical Society style
English abstract should have max. 1000 characters
Key words (5 maximum) in English and Czech
Pictures and maps in digital format have to turned in in an electronic format (.tif, .wmf, .eps, .ai, .cdr, .jpg)
The resolution of photographs should be at least 300 dpi.
Text accompanying pictures should identify the source.
